About Avistashopping
We started Avistashopping because most shopping advice answers the wrong question.
Search for almost any product and you'll get lists of the "best" ones, each with a buy button. What you rarely get is the question that comes first: is this the right thing to buy at all? A cheap purchase gets expensive fast if it breaks in month two, can't be returned, or never suited the job. That's the gap we write for.
Who it's for
Online shoppers, families stretching a budget, students buying a first laptop, homeowners hiring help, gift buyers, and anyone who has ever read a five-star review and wondered who wrote it. We write mainly for readers in the United States, with notes for Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia, and a soft spot for South Carolina's Grand Strand, from Conway to Myrtle Beach, where local services get the same scrutiny as national brands.
What we cover
Our six sections are buying guides, product comparisons, online shopping, consumer rights, deals and price comparison. Inside them you'll find return policies, warranties, shipping, marketplace sellers, subscriptions, shopping scams and professional services, all judged the same way.
How we write and check our work
- We say whether a recommendation comes from hands-on use or from research. We never invent testing.
- We don't publish fake reviews, invent discounts, or recommend sellers without checking basic trust signals.
- We cite sources you can check, like the FTC and state agencies, and we update articles when rules or prices change.
- We never tell you a padlock icon proves a store is legitimate. The FTC is clear that scam sites can be encrypted too.
- Advertising and sponsored content are labeled. Advertisers don't pick what we cover or what we say.
